The Bendigo Senior SC Lions travelled down to the State Volleyball Centre in Dandenong to compete in the School Sport Victoria (SSV) Volleyball State Championships on Thursday 15th May.

In the opening match the team come up against the eventual championship winning team in Eltham HS. It was a tough start with Eltham taking the win 2 sets to 0. The second and third matches were evenly contested with the 2nd place position ending in a three-way tie between BSSC, Wodonga and Murtoa.

The match against Wodonga Senior SC was a ripper with both teams winning repeated points at different stages. Wodonga took the first set 20-10 before the Lions bounced back to take the second set 20-12. The third set was tight tussle with both teams having opportunities to take it out. The Lions managed the pressure to win the third set 20-18.

The last match against Murtoa was a must win match with the Murtoa team winning key points to take the match 2 sets to 0.
