This morning students in Year 11 Accounting 1/2 began a program that aims to enhance their understanding about banking and the career opportunities it can offer them.

Andrew Roberts and Charli Montgomery from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) introduced students to Partner-A-Class.

The Partner-A-Class program has been offered to BSSC students for more than a decade and includes a project students will develop and work on during the year—and that will be presented by them to senior bank executives in Melbourne during third term.

Along the way, these future accountants will develop skills—such as teamwork, goal setting, project planning, and how to prepare and conduct themselves during an interview.

All students will add a valuable certificate to their resume and one student will be awarded $1000 in recognition of the quality of their ideas, effort, and achievements.

As this new group begins, we asked some students how they are approaching the challenge.

“I’m actually a bit excited about having this opportunity,” Kai says.

“I feel like it’s a massive opportunity,” says Alicia. “We are the only school in Victoria to have this program and I think it will open doors for life and work.”
