BSSC’s Trade Training Centre was full of excitement this morning, as Year 11 and 12 students heard from industry experts at an event as part of National Skills Week.

The Industry Engagement Breakfast—designed to link students with local employers, apprentices, and industry representatives—was a wonderful chance to discuss pathways and possibilities for life beyond BSSC.

For students, the chance to speak directly with employers, ask genuine questions, and gain an authentic understanding of the workplace is an experience that cannot be replicated in the classroom.

“We are truly grateful for the strong partnerships Bendigo Senior shares with local industries and employers,” says Lucy Clark, Assistant Principal.

“Their willingness to give up their time, share their knowledge, and support the next generation is what makes these events so valuable.”

Industry representatives shared a delicious hot brekky with students and staff—but, most importantly, shared their knowledge about their field of work. Students had the unique opportunity to hear first-hand about different career pathways, learn more about apprenticeships, and start building meaningful connections for the future.

These conversations help our students make more informed decisions about their next steps, whether that is through an apprenticeship, further training, or employment.

A big thanks to everyone who joined us today to help encourage and inspire our students—including O’Brien Electrical & Air Conditioning Bendigo, Apprenticeships Australia, BLR Provincial Construction, Repco, Agnico Eagle, Victorian Automotive Chamber of Commerce (VACC), Workforce Australia, Powercor, Thales, Head Start, Yarrawonga Manufactured Housing, Bendigo TAFE, Deepcore Drilling and Gejay Automotive.
