Yesterday a collection of 11 plaques depicting the long and fascinating history of the college were installed on the brick wall at the end of D Block (facing the Ulumbarra Plaza).
The creation of the plaques has been a long-term project involving senior staff at the college (including Principal Dale Pearce, Bev Miller, Jenny Moloney and Julie Willis), members of the Alumni community, the BSSC Communications team, and McIntosh Signs.
The plaques draw heavily on Janette Bomford’s book ‘The School on the Hill’ and trace the history of the college from the 1870’s through two world wars, the 1970’s transformation into a senior secondary college, right up to the current pandemic. They will serve as a reminder for current staff and students of the rich history of the college and be a useful point of reference for new students and staff.
