Congratulations to Year 12 student Billy McNally who won the Sally Conroy Memorial 200m at the Bendigo International Madison athletics-cycling carnival on the long weekend.
Billy has been a finalist in previous years, but the additional work he put into training for starts enabled him to overtake the front markers and keep his lead this year. Billy followed up his fast heat time with an even quicker winning time of 22.3 seconds.
“My coach Matt Patterson gave me plenty of tips, and support from Nigel Self played a big part in my victory,” he said.
After showing a lot of promise at school athletics carnivals, Billy decided to take up track racing four years ago.
Billy has also tackled Aussie Rules and Futsal, and his goal now is to work toward competing at state and possibly national titles next track season.
