Theatre crowds at the Melbourne Arts Centre will head to their seats while listening to a BSSC student’s fanfare.

The fanfare will replace the traditional cue bells during March.

Year 11 student, Caitlin Buchan, wrote the fanfare ‘’Cleopatra’s Entrance’ last year as part of the national Fanfare Competition.

Since being announced as a finalist, Caitlin has worked with industry professionals to refine her work before the Australian Youth Orchestra recorded it.

Her fanfare (along with seven others) will also feature as a cue bell at the Perth Concert Hall, Adelaide Festival Centre, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and the Art Gallery Society NSW.

Caitlin took a month to compose her 30-second Egyptian-themed fanfare.
