Federal Member for Bendigo, Lisa Chesters, met with Principal Dale Pearce this morning to discuss Labour’s commitment to fund public schools.

Addressing the Morrison government’s cuts to public school funding, Ms Chesters said the 2.5 million students in the public school system deserve better.

“A federal Labour government will invest an extra $14 billion for public schools to deliver the biggest school investment in Australian history,” she said.

“Every student, regardless of their background, deserves the best start in life and to reach their full potential.”

Ms Chesters said that Federal education funding under a Labour government would mean an extra $22 million allocated across central Victoria.

BSSC Principal, Dale Pearce, described the announcement as fantastic for the region.

“For our college it would mean much needed additional numeracy and literacy support and an even broader range of subjects,” he said. “Our parent expect that… and I think our wider community expect that too.”
