| Promoting the Centenary Celebrations |
In the lead up to the Centenary Celebrations major emphasis was attached to the marketing activities to be undertaken.
The aim of these activities was threefold:
- 1. to encourage a large number of participants to attend the designated Centenary Celebrations in October 2007
- 2. to encourage businesses within the Bendigo region to become involved as corporate supporters of the Centenary Celebrations, and
- 3. to increase awareness of Bendigo Senior Secondary College throughout the Bendigo region and greater Victoria.
Eaglehawk Dahlia & Arts Festival & Bendigo Easter Parades
Two major promotions were completed early in 2007 with the college entering a float in both the Eaglehawk Dahlia & Arts Festival and the Bendigo
Easter Parades. Past and present students and staff joined in and over 1000 flyers were handed out promoting the forthcoming celebrations.
We were delighted to be awarded the prize for Best Secondary School Entry in the Bendigo Easter Parade. Big thanks to the designers and
builders of the float - Barry Dutton, Mick Thoren and Alex Carpenter. Special mention, too, to 'Goldie' (aka Assistant Principal David Castles)
who delighted the crowds on both occasions.
Launch of Centenary Celebrations on April 18 2007
John Neil, former principal, officially launched the Centenary Celebrations at a luncheon held in the James King Hall on April 18. Dr Janette Bomford,
author of the college's history 'The School on the Hill' gave an overview of the past 100 years. The event was attended by past and present students
and staff. A highlight of the launch was a message from Edith Lunn, centenarian and past pupil of Bendigo High School. The official cutting of the
cake was carried out by past students Enid Reid, Alf Ryall and Warwick Johanson.
